To use the Hantush's modification of the Theis method in Infinite Extent, partial penetration parameters must be entered. These parameters indicate what portion of the aquifer is screened by the pumping well and the observation wells. This menu selection allows the entry of partial penetration information required for the Hantush modification of the Theis method.

 

The top row is the distance from the top of the aquifer to the top of the well screen (parameter A). The second row is the distance from the top of the aquifer to the bottom of the well screen (parameter B). These parameters are shown in the figure below.

1. Parameter A is the distance from the top of the aquifer to the top of the well screen.

 

2.  Parameter B is the distance from the top of the aquifer to the bottom of the well screen.

 

Parameter A should always be less than parameter B. The difference between A and B should be the length of screen in the aquifer.
