Matching the Type Curve
Data from a selected well is displayed over top of the series of type curves. Both an early time and a late time match are required for this test.
An estimate of Beta is required to calculate vertical hydraulic conductivity of the aquifer. Beta values range from 0.0 to 6.0 and are entered for both early and late time matches. To estimate Beta for early time, enter the match estimate, and click the Early Time button on the Estimate window. To estimate Beta for late time, enter the match estimate, and click the Late Time button on the Estimate window. The graph displays results from the most recent match. For example, if the most recent match was late time, late time results will be displayed on the graph.
It is recommended that the early time match be made first. Infinite Extent allows the user to match early and late data with different Beta values. However, Kruseman and de Ridder (1991) recommend matching the early time, estimating Beta, and matching the late time to the same Beta.
