Leakage Factor

Leakage factor is a value relating the thickness and hydraulic conductivity of an aquifer to the thickness and hydraulic conductivity of an overlying aquitard.

Leakage factor is described by the equation:

L = Leakage factor in units of length

D = aquifer thickness

D' = aquitard thickness

K = aquifer hydraulic conductivity

K' = aquitard hydraulic conductivity
