Leaky Aquifer Assumptions
Leaky Aquifer Assumptions
From:
Kruseman, G. P., and de Ridder, N. A.1991. Analysis and Evaluation of Pumping Test Data, Second Edition, International Institute for Land Reclamation and Improvement, Wageningen, The Netherlands.
- The aquifer is leaky.
- The aquifer and aquitard have a seemingly infinite areal extent.
- The aquifer and aquitard are homogeneous, isotropic, and of uniform thickness over the area influenced by the test.
- Prior to pumping, the piezometric surface is horizontal (or nearly so) over the area that will be influenced by the test.
- The aquifer is pumped at a constant discharge rate.
- The well penetrates the entire thickness of the aquifer and thus receives water by horizontal flow.
- The flow in the aquitard is vertical.
- The drawdown in the aquitard is negligible.
- Well storage can be neglected.
- The water removed from storage in the aquifer and the water supplied by leakage from the aquitard is discharged instantaneously with decline of head.
