Well Yield Calculator

After the results of a pump test have been determined, the well yield calculator can be used to estimate the yield of a well for different aquifer scenarios.

Implementation

The user enters transmissivity, storativity, maximum allowable drawdown, time for yield to be determined, and well radius. The calculator solves the Theis solution equation for well discharge. Optimum discharge is what would reasonably be expected when well efficiency is taken into account. It is calculated as 67 percent of maximum possible discharge (based on Driscoll, 1986).

Since the calculator uses the Theis equation, it is accurate to the extent that the Theis solution is applicable.
