Hantush-Bierschenk Assumptions
Hantush-Bierschenk Assumptions
From Kruseman and de Ridder (1991):
- The aquifer is confined, leaky, or unconfined
- The aquifer has seemingly infinite areal extent
- The aquifer is homogeneous, isotropic, and of uniform thickness over the area influenced by the test
- Prior to pumping, the piezometric surface is horizontal (or nearly so) over the area that will be influenced by the test
- The aquifer is pumped stepwise at increased discharge rates
- The well penetrates the entire thickness of the aquifer and thus receives water by horizontal flow
- The flow to the well is in an unsteady-state
- The non-linear well losses are appreciable and vary according to the expression CQ2
